Enough with “OK?” at the end of your sentence. “This is the first step, OK? Next, OK?, will be to take it longer, OK?” Really, do you really need approval at everything? “OK”, when used sparingly, can be used for emphasizing the importance of a point.

Using “OK?” at the end of all your sentence or too frequent shows that you keep on wanting to get approval from the other side.

“You know?” It’s so juvenile. Asking this but it’s not really a question, you want to show that you are smarter than the other person and you want the other person to be on the same wavelength as yours even though they are not.

Always, always ask the person if he/she can be your reference in your resume rather than assume HR wouldn’t call that person to check up on you!

References contact are different from Supervisor/Manager in your previous jobs. These are people who should be giving positive feedback about yourself and know about your previous/current job experiences and function. They can be your colleagues (same level), sub-ordinates or higher level managers than yourself.

If the person you put as Reference is not in a good relationship with you then it’s better not to put it for you may never know this person could break your new job hope.

Don’t put parents or relatives (unless they are working with you) either. It would show you’re daddy/mommy/insert your relative’s baby. The last thing you want to tell is you cannot be independent.
